Join Sioux Falls Science Pub to Cybersecurity: What New Thing is Hiding Around the Corner?
The sophistication, advancement, and new technologies have created conveniences and vulnerabilities within our daily lives. Should we embrace or run away from many recent technological advances like artificial intelligence? We love the smart devices within our homes but always wonder what else they listen to. Cybercriminals continue to develop new sophisticated tools and techniques to exploit our human vulnerabilities, create polarization, influence decisions, and disrupt societies.
Join Dr. Rob Honomichl, assistant professor of cyber operations at the University of Arizona, and the Sioux Falls Science Pub for a conversation about the techniques, tools, and advancements in technology that are hiding around the corner to increase our awareness and knowledge to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and society. Topics will include AI, social engineering, weapons of influence, trolling, social media, and problematic information.
Dr. Honomichl is a former South Dakota computer teacher, district technology director, and assistant professor at Dakota State University. At DSU, he was the camp director for six GenCyber Teacher Camps, an instructor at 17 GenCyber student camps, led various teacher professional development, assisted in educational standards, and active with technology CTE programs. Honomichl is a Madison Central School District board member and a board member of the Associated School Boards of South Dakota.
