An Update From Severance Brewing Co.

After months of deliberation, Melissa and I are announcing that we will not be extending our lease at The Cascade when it comes up for extension at the end of June 2027. We started Severance with the mission to create a space for people to come together, enjoy a locally-crafted pint and build relationships while helping the community that supports us. I'm more than happy to say that I believe we and our amazing team have accomplished that - and far, far more.

The decision is not merely a financial one. Despite early challenges, we're debt free and 2025 was our most profitable year so far. However, extending our lease means a commitment to another four years that we just can't make at this time. Our kids are getting older and I want to be more present physically and mentally than I've been able to over the last 7+ years while we still have them at home.

While we could hire a brewer and taproom manager to free up my plate, I know I wouldn’t be happy watching from the sidelines. We know we've built something special at Severance and sincerely hope to see that continue. We also know that selling a business (especially a brewery) takes some time, so we've listed the business with TWBA in hopes that someone connects with what we've built and wants to continue what we’ve started. There are also a number of folks in our community that have been looking for an opportunity to start their own brewing journey and our location is about as turn-key as you can get with a ton of future potential.

Want to own a brewery? Contact Eric or Carrie at TWBA if this sounds like an opportunity for you (serious inquiries only - NDAs and legal documents get involved).

What happens between now and "the end"? Don't fret. We'll be operating business as usual and plan to bring back a number of customer favorites over the next several months. Remember Ground Blizzard, Emo Eighth Notes, Sound Vision and Summer Herb #4, among others? And, in the event we don't find someone to carry on the Severance name, we still plan to go out with a hell of a bang next June.
